In the first VIP show of the 2025 Elvis & Co Festival, join 2 X JUNO nominated Alex Bird & The Jazz Mavericks and 2018 Ultimate Elvis Champion Ben Thompson from London England in a nod to the celebrated The Frank Sinatra Timex Show: Welcome Home Elvis. The special which aired on ABC on May 12, 1960 was the last of Sinatra’s 4 televised specials for Timex and featured Elvis in his first televised appearance following his military service in West Germany. This much anticipated meeting of these 2 iconic men pitted against each other in the media resulted in what many have come to recognize as an anointing. This show will contain a mix of songs from the Special, originals and old standards.
Alex Bird & The Jazz Mavericks have become one of the biggest names on the Canadian jazz scene. With four original albums released over the last few years, they are taking the vocal jazz genre to new places and new audiences. In addition to the old classics Bird draws on many musical inspirations; Elvis Presley and his originality are high at the top Bird’s list.
Ben Thompson is endorsed as the 2018 Ultimate Elvis Champion by Elvis Presley Enterprises and is therefore recognized as one of the BEST IN THE WORLD. His incredible vocals and intensity in addition to his authenticity across all eras of Elvis make him the perfect addition to our line up. And if you haven’t seen him live, you may have seen him as Elvis in the 2017 Sequel film Bladerunner 2049, alongside Harrison Ford and Ryan Gosling.
